2001 SCP Fedewa New Year's Eve Party

CASUAL AND LOW KEY have many places throughout the year, but certain occasions are worth celebrating in grand style. In addition to the balloon drops, the din of noisemakers, the countdown, and general rowdiness, our vision of ushering in a new year with friends old and new is a bold celebration of hopefulness and camaraderie.

This year we will be returning to our very successful 1999 venue, America at Union Station—how's that for a patriotic locale? In a city of monuments, we think everything just tastes better at an historic Washington site! The perfect marriage of marble, gold, and sweeping views, America is also a hip restaurant with quick service and speedy bartenders.

Lodging will again be at the tastefully restored and conveniently located Phoenix Park Hotel, an island of hospitality and Old World charm in a sea of franchised uniformity. Rates have been reduced again and are now lower than they were for 2000 or 1999!

Groove Spot, a highly-acclaimed party band out of Richmond featuring a mix of hammy disco, solid funk, smooth R & B, and eclectic pop, will be driving things along on the dance floor.

Our revamped purchase, registration, and check-in system, mean that event logistics are much streamlined and improved for 2001. Our $90 ticket block is sold out, but we currently have $100 tickets available. We expect to be sold out of the $100 tickets shortly (at which time $110 tickets will go on sale).

To purchase tickets in person or to pick up prepaid tickets you've bought online, stop by our 13 Days `Til Midnight midweek happy hour on Tuesday, December 18th, from 6:00-9:00pm at Gaffney's, or our 3 Days `Til Midnight happy hour at Gordon Biersch from 7:00-9:00pm on Friday, December 28th. Your last chance to buy tickets with cash or to retrieve prepaid tickets will be from 3:00-5:00pm on Saturday, December 29th, at Bungalow Billiards at 2766 S. Arlington Mill Drive in Shirlington, Virginia.

This is a black tie preferred event. Open bar. Buffet and passed hors d'oeuvres. Doors will open at 9:00pm. Event ends at 3:00am (last call, by law, will be at 2:30am).

Champagne will be served from 11:00pm until 1:00am, and we have our traditional countdown and toast with Auld Lang Syne at midnight.

Please note that no tickets will be sold at the door. Amtrak, Capitol Hill Police, and Metropolitan Police Department personnel will be on hand to help our staff turn away anyone attempting to crash this party. Tickets are not transferable and ticket numbers will be cross-referenced with the master guest list. Tickets are not available via any third-party brokers, nor can they be purchased from America, the Center Cafe, Ark Restaurants, or Union Station.
