The Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, DC

FOR OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS and gatherings before and after the Main Event we give you the Phoenix Park Hotel—an island of hospitality and Old World charm in a sea of franchised uniformity. Located just one block from the city's beautifully restored Union Station and a mere fifty yards from the event site, the unique Phoenix Park Hotel is the ideal Capitol Hill location and has recently completed an $11M renovation and expansion (click here to see a video about the hotel).

The Phoenix Park Hotel from North Capitol Street

Named for Dublin's historic Phoenix Park and located at 520 North Capitol Street NW, The Phoenix Park Hotel has 150 rooms and is beautifully decorated in elegance and style reminiscent of an 18th-century Irish manor. Erected in 1927 as The Commodore Hotel, the hotel has long been a gathering spot for travelers, executives, lobbyists, and diplomats. The original structure has been updated to the latest standards and old-world accents such as imported Waterford crystal chandeliers, Celtic rugs, tromp I'oeil, Irish linen, and European antiques complement the balance of style and convenience.

Rooms are delightfully furnished with candy-striped wallpaper and coordinated drapes, dust ruffles and bedspreads. Poster beds are carved in dark woods, and overstuffed armchairs complete the cozy picture. Room service, a restaurant, and the popular Dubliner bar provide classic cuisine with an Irish influence.

JUST DOWNSTAIRS from our block of rooms at the Phoenix Park Hotel is another local treasure, the Dubliner Irish pub. Established in 1974, the Dubliner has become a veritable Washington institution in a city where bars come and go with the latest fads.

For those staying at the hotel, breakfast is served at the Dubliner from 7:00am to 10:30am, and drinks are available from the bar after 11:00am. Try Old Dubliner Amber Ale—an SCP favorite—or the new Dubliner Irish Lager, brewed especially for the Dubliner and first poured in October 2000.

And even if you check out of the hotel on January 1st, 2002,, be sure to stay around for our 3d annual "Day After" party at the Dubliner! This has grown into a must-do event and we have to do it again. This year features music by The Players starting at 2:00pm.

Over the years, the Dubliner has expanded to become a hub of Irish hospitality in America, welcoming guests who recognize that, in the words of the great Irish statesman Daniel O'Connell,

The hospitality of an Irishman springs—like all of his qualities, his faults, and his virtues—directly from his heart.
